Austin getaway!
This weekend David and I attended Austin's chapter of JDRF's (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Type 1 Now Diabetes Conference. This was the first exclusively Type 1 conference I'd ever seen -- and I was so excited to attend! David and I both learned so much about new diabetes-cure research, new medicines and technologies, and dealing with the physical and emotional aspects of diabetes. It was great to mingle with caring, concerned people, including educators and parents and spouses of diabetics.
And we also got to play in Austin a bit, visiting Zilker park, shopping areas and blindly following an erroneous GPS in search of ice cream for an hour+ ... We especially enjoyed our evening at an upscale Italian bistro called North. Emily was crying with delight at her most delectible "braised short ribs with roasted vegetables and white polenta." The white polenta was slow-cooked in mascarpone cheese and butter and absolutely one of her top 3 best foods eaten. Ever. And we also loved our woodfired pizza and antipasto salad served with fresh olives and salami on a wood plank. YUM!
A big thank you to Auntie Dani for taking such great care of the kiddos! They had a blast playing at the park and McD, swimming, making cookies and playing hard! I even came home to a tidy and freshly-vacuumed home. What a treat!

I am glad to hear you had a fruitful and plaesant trip, plus the good food. I know what you were eating and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. By the way white Polenta comes from Northern Italy around Venice.
I miss you guys so much!
I need me some white polenta ASAP! What a great trip!
